Every once in a while I come across a product that makes me go “gee-whillikers what a neato idea.” OK, that does sound a bit ridiculous, but take a look at the next costume product from CFX out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Mobile wings!

Here’s the product decription:

These pnuematic wings strap on to your back much like a backpack and with the push of a button unfold to an incredible 11 foot wingspan! Paint alterations are also available at no extra charge.

The best part is, they are completely mobile with no hoses or cords to drag. The animation is powered by a regular 9 ounce C02 paintball tank and the valve system is powered by a AA battery pack. The activation button is available on the bottom of the wing pack in addition to a handheld extension cable. Mobile wings are lightwieght, weighing approx. 18 lbs. Over 200 activations can be acheived using the 9 oz. tank provided.
This accessory makes an amazing addition to your haunt or stage show and creates a fantastic element of surprise on a character costume.
Mobile Wings are available with or without the mobile C02 attachments, for those who don’t need complete mobiliity and prefer to use an air hose.

Yeah, they’re a bit steep at $2,495.00, but we are talking a quality costume for higher end haunts after all. They even have silicone masks to go right along with the wings. Yes, you get a deal when you buy both. Now if you’ve never seen the difference between a regular old latex mask and a silicone one then you’re in for a treat. A well-made silicone mask is indistinguishable from a quality foam latex appliance makeup. So instead of an actor spending hours in a makeup chair they can literally be ready in 30 seconds or less with a mask that moves with their face and has skin that looks real.

It’s no wonder these guys make such great stuff because they have been involved in the movie industry. What sets CFX apart from other companies is their experience in the fields that their products are used in. Their level of craftsmanship and materials are chosen based on an understanding of the haunted house make-up artist and technician, the makeup effects on film demands, as well as break-away props needs and stringent quality requirements of high-value, production sculptural elements. Check out the interview below to see more of who CFX is and their great products.

  1. oh man I’d love to get one of these!! I can see it now on Halloween night sitting up in a tree with my Two Headed Vulture w/ Carrion growling down at the little trick-or-treaters then suddenly opening up these huge wings and jumping down at them…. yeah, that’d be awesome!

    here’s my break down

Paint Job: spfx was far superior
    Weight: CFX was lighter
Seams: spfx was seamleess – CFX has visible seams
    Price: CFX was $100 less
