Ghostbusters 3 to Hit the Small Screen

OK, if you’ve had images of the Statue of Liberty walking the streets of New York floundering about like the crappy reviews of Ghostbusters 2 in your head since 1989 then you’re not alone. While the sequel to the 1984 hit Ghostbusters didn’t quite live up to expectations (why oh why didn’t lady liberty have a giant creature to fight instead of just sticking her hand through a roof?!) that hasn’t stopped fans from wanting a third installment. Well one is in the works - sort of. Due in October from Sierra Entertainment is Ghostbusters: The Video Game.

Yeah, so you’re saying that you have Gameboy and Sega games with the Ghostbusters in them. What’s unique about this one is that Dan Akroyd (Dr Raymond Stantz) and Harold Ramis (Dr Egon Spengler) penned this story and all the original cast members Akroyd, Ramis, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, and even William Ahterton who played the annoying EPA agent Walter Peck are back lending their voices to the characters. Set in 1991, two years after GB 2, the Ghostbusters have franchised out and you get to play as a new recruit. Slimer and the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man are even in it, and Akroyd has said himself that this is basically Ghostbusters 3.
So, if you want to see the boys back in action then hopefully you’re a gamer. If not, there’s probably some kid on your block you can pay to play it for you. Check out the sample YouTube video below of some kick-ass-proton-pack destruction. As always if you’re getting this in an email you’ll have to hit our site to see it.
