Well, in case you haven’t noticed the posts have been a bit sparse this week. In fact they’ve been non-existent while I battled a strange virus I must have picked up in some dank jungle in Southeast Asia. So did any of you miss me? Doubtful. I’m reminded of a quote from Romero’s “Diary of the Dead”, which I got to see last weekend and highly recommend, that goes, and I paraphrase cuz I have a poor memory just now, “When everyone has a voice it all becomes just noise.” Romero was of course talking about the current YouTube/blogging culture which of course I am part of. So if you didn’t notice I was gone I won’t take it personally – I know I’m just part the cacophony of web noise you allow into your mind occasionally.

So let’s just sort of cover what would have been this week’s posts shall we.

Birthdays

First off Happy Belated Birthday to Christopher Lee, who has a long storied career playing such characters as the Frankenstein monster and Dracula in the Hammer films, Saruman in the LOTR films, and Count Dooku in the shitty Star Wars prequels. Lee, who turned 86 on Monday, currently has six films in the works. Not bad for a guy who was only cast as the Frankenstein monster because he was the tallest actor working in Britain at the time.

Also, Happy B-day to Danny Elfman who turned 55 yesterday. Elfman is the composer of music from such productions as Tales From The Crypt, The Simpsons, Mars Attacks!, the Batman movies, Army of Darkness, Beetlejuice, and way too damn much to keep writing about. For those of you who are over the age of 35 he was also in the 80′s band Oingo Boingo.

Next, don’t feel like going out this weekend. How about a video? Here’s the no frills list of new to DVD releases. Sorry, no links. You’ll just have to Google them on your own.

Or how about a movie out.

We have Sluts and the City . . ., uuurp, sorry I just threw up a little bit in my mouth. Who the fuck would want to see a movie about these four hags that sleep around and can’t maintain any lasting relationship with any man. Women, listen up! If the these tramps are your role models for how to deal with men, then please, for the love any god, just stop. They’re a bunch of superficial, shoe-obsessed skanks who toss decent guys away because they might have a wrinkle in their ass. Don’t even think about seeing this movie unless you want to drive every man in your life away from you thus leaving you to live out your pitiful existence barren and alone.

Why risk that?! Instead see this!

The Strangers is a terrifying suspense thriller about a couple (Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman) in a remote suburban house who are targeted by three dangerous masked strangers. The resulting clashes force the couple to go well beyond what they thought themselves capable of in order to survive. Looks fucking creepy to me. Get showtimes and tickets for The Strangers here.

Cons and Gatherings

Here’s the skinny on the GLFF.
Well kids,
Great Lakes FrightFest officially starts Friday evening! We are anticipating appox. 375 – 400 people this year. As of Monday, the Haunted House is assembled – waiting for it’s occupants to fill the rooms! Door prizes and raffle items are still arriving. Today we start erecting the canopies, cook areas, speaker areas and so on. We will have quite a few families arriving today. This year besides the can food drive for St. Anne’s Parish, Haunter’s Against Hunger is also excepting donations for the Humane Society. It touches my heart to find out that several attendees have set up collections at their place of employment. I truly believe this year we will blow the tops off our current goals. But don’t forget to bring your can goods with you! Every can counts! We are offering a total of 17 demos/seminars & make n takes this year.

If you want to come out and you haven’t register – please do so at
http://www.greatlakesfrightfest.com/register/
I need a head count! :0)
We are very excited to see our old friends and to welcome our new friends!
Remember – we run ran or shine!
Come and Play with us!!!
Hauntingly Yours,
~Karen aka KkrazyKkaren

And here’s a couple of scifi cons.

OK, now – get the fuck off the Internet for Cripe’s sake! Go do something. I, on the other hand, will be trying to recover while I shiver uncontrollably.
