Goth Polka WTF? But I swear I like it! Here’s something I got a while ago and shoud have posted, but I sort of discounted it. I mean Goth Polka? I gave it a listen, and my bizarre sensibilities liked it. Do check out the links below and at the first one in the press release you can give it a listen. Not to be missed – The Beer Hall in Hell.
Veronique Chevalier, like her name mimetically implies, is “Very Unique.” Accomplished in cabaret and the writer, producer and performer of three full-length albums, Veronique’s latest quirky work “Polka Haunt Us: A Spook-tacular Compilation” is poised to be the next big Halloween album – maybe even give the Monster Mash a run for its money.
Polka Haunt Us is a 13 track album centering around – you guessed it – goth polka. Each song is a quirky, spooky and surprisingly educational retelling or exploration of a classic piece of mythology and tale, and also features the music from the region it’s from. To create this globe-trotting labor of love, Veronique enlisted the talent of artists from all over the world, including Grammy-nominated composer and accordionist Alex Meixner, Comedy Central’s Gary Shapiro, long-time Disney vocalist Kerry Christensen and the ‘Jimi Hendrix of the Violin’ Lili Haydn.

Veronique is also a wonderful interview and a great story of someone whose really working to be innovative and unique. You can learn more about Veronique at www.WeirdVal.com and www.PolkaHaunt.us.
